Scaling Telecenters for Development

Working with the AED Information Technology Application Center (ITAC), Microsoft, and Telecentre.org, we designed and developed a book and informational Web site called Making the Connection: Scaling Telecenters for Development.
The materials present case studies, approaches, and research from previous projects on telecenters or “shared access facilities” and the effect of these facilities on social, economic, and technological development of developing countries.
This fascinating volume underscores the diversity of approaches to addressing digital social and economic disadvantage. The book illustrates just how pervasive and differentiated, yet with compellingly common purpose, the telecenter movement has grown to become. Grameen did it with local lending and mobile phones. Telecentres are the next in line!!! A must read!
